Starting RRSA
This unit shows you what you need to start the process of becoming a rights- respecting school. It covers who needs to be involved and provides information about support and resources. Several documents are provided as optional guidance and schools may choose to use those which they feel help them.
There is no set order in which each task should be done.
The decision to do the Rights Respecting School Award must have the support of the school’s leadership and their commitment to actively support making the values of UNCRC part of the ethos of the school.
By the end of this stage you should have:
- the agreement and active support of senior management to go forward with the Award
- a good knowledge of what the RRSA is and how it works
- introduced the RRSA to pupils and staff
- a representative steering group made up of adults and pupils
